Google's privacy policy and Dashboard

So i was just going about my day searching for stuff on Google and a pop appeared asking me to read the new privacy policy of Google, saying that it has been modified for the common public to read and understand. So obviously despite my mind saying that this will be too boring i went ahead and read it.
Google’s new privacy policy is stirring up controversy as various sections debate how the privacy of patrons of Google would be affected by it. Despite the entire hullabaloo, Google is going ahead with its tricky privacy policy, and many are not happy.

"Using the preferences and interaction with Google products like searches and like, Google guesses the user’s age and gender, along with several top categories of interest. These guesses made by Google about the user’s personality can be seen on the user’s Google account, and one has the option to opt out of tracking if one does not like his personality read out to him without any effort on his part!
To prepare this user demography, Google fills up the blanks on the user’s interest through picking up clues on things like travel searches."

Its has a lot of things and i suggest you read them cos its hardly a two pages but basically it tells us that it can collect our cookies for better advertisement placement and out other results for again a better search result but it is all up to us, who in their right mind would disclose their privacy like that. It also stated that our information might be pulled up due to some legal issues like the government demanding it or it may be used in a lawsuit, which i understand but i am still a little sceptical about. But i think this is not what interested me the most, there were links of all sorts of things like the DASHBOARD.

I really felt a little off when i saw my dashboard, i am a cynic but still the feeling that everything i ever did can be put on a single page containing my contacts, my friends, my latest facebook chat, my last facebook post, and all that stuff that i had probably forgotten myself hs a little odd.

Another great thing i came across was the data user info and content removal of all the countries compiled in a list. According to google they started keeping a record of all the removal requests from all countries about 6 months ago for full transparency and that made my day cos i spent hours looking at countries and their google traffic and all of their requests. This put a lot of things into prospective like when i saw the traffic in China and Libya, i mean how can someone ban an entire site for the people, is there really no freedom of opinion..?

So check out these policies @     http://www.google.com/policies/privacy/
Your own dashboard @    https://www.google.com/dashboard/
The Google traffic chart of all countries @    http://www.google.com/transparencyreport/traffic/
AND obviously all the requests from countries @ http://www.google.com/transparencyreport/governmentrequests/userdata/

Usagi Drop

"Usage Drops" which roughly translates into bunny drops is one of my favorite anime for the past month. This anime is really cute and sentimental at the same time. The visual is wonderful along with the correct music.

The show may seem slow throughout the course, but it’s a steady character driven piece that delivers consistently. Normally I’d pass up shows like this but I am always anxiously waiting for an episode every week. Usagi Drop manages to cement itself as one of the best slice of life shows around. It manages to transcend anime in the fact that I think the story is one that can be enjoyed by both anime and non-anime viewers alike. The story is very heart warming and provides many uplifting emotions throughout its run. It is a show I would recommend to almost anyone, and it is definitely deserving of much accolades.

Definitely 10/10.

Engineered Avian Flu Could Kill Half the World’s Humans!!!

So Ron Fouchier, a virologist was experimenting with avian flue to see if it could become more violent, hence he did what and guy in his right mind would do.....he created an airborne virus that has the potential to wipe out nearly half the human population (wait WHAAAAATTTT).
Fouchier presented his findings in a conference in Malta this September and now he wants to publish how he actually made the virus.....but its kind of a double ended sword. If he publishes his research then there is a chance the virus can be reproduced by terrorists but if he doesn't ...... then scientists cannot research on how to respond to its outbreak ( if it happens )

Basically and avian flue like the h5n1 killed about 600 people and it was not even airborne. Its like the zombie apocalypse....and you don't even have to be bitten by the zombie...just stand close to it and bag, your it.
I'll keep you updated if there are new developments in that area....
ps.
If anyone wants to read the in depth article.......click here

Update: 25/1/12
The scientific community has decided to delay Ron Fouchier from publishing the article for about 2 months so that they can analyse and come up with a solution for this. Lets see what happens

Aerogel and miracle berries

I was reading an article about Christmas gifts and stumbled upon these amazing things....

Aerogel

Also known as frozen smoke, Aerogel is the world's lowest density solid, clocking in at 96% air. It's basically just a gel made from silicon, except all the liquid has been taken out and replaced with gas instead. If you hold a small piece in your hand, it's practically impossible to either see or feel, but if you poke it, it's like styrofoam.
Aerogel isn't just neat, it's useful. It supports up to 4,000 times its own weight and can apparently withstand a direct blast from two pounds of dynamite. It's also the best insulator in existence, which is why we don't have Aerogel jackets: it works so well that people were complaining about overheating on Mt. Everest.

Miracle berries

By themselves, Miracle berries don't taste like much. The reason to eat them is that they contain a chemical called miraculin that binds to the sweet taste receptors on your tongue, changing their shape and making them respond to sour and acidic foods.
The upshot of this effect is that some things you eat taste spectacularly different. Straight Tabasco sauce tastes like donut glaze. Guinness tastes like a chocolate malt. Goat cheese tastes like cheesecake. After about an hour of craziness, your taste buds go back to normal, no harm done.
(ps. couldn't find a great video for this so go find one for yourself.........)
